Styling Fun: Fallow Cowl 3 Ways

I wanted to try something new. First the podcast. Is it gone? Am I done? I don't know. I had heard that Blip, which I use to host the videos, was deleting podcast accounts. I haven't tried to upload anything since that started. It has become a challenge for me to find time to podcast. So I might do a video again sometime, for now I'm taking a break. From that.

But I've been thinking a lot about clothes and knitting. And how to dress with handknits. People who see me everyday (like the other moms who walk their kids to school) are probably surprised that I am interested in fashion because I usually dress in yoga pants, t-shirts and sweatshirts. But I love to think about clothes and fashion and what I would wear with my knits. One of my favorite things about looking at knitting magazines is seeing how they have styled the models. What kinds of clothes is she they wearing with that sweater? How does the hat complete her look? Because, of course, we don't usually (though I am sure there some exceptions!) fit our wardrobes into our knitting. It's the other way around. We knit a cute hat and then wear it with the clothes we have.

So, I'm going to take a stab at putting together outfits for items that I am knitting or have knit in the past. I am not trained in fashion or style. You might think what I put together is butt ugly. That's OK! We all have different styles. I might not wear each look (for one thing, I don't own any skinny jeans! It's just things I like and think would look good on someone, whoever that might be.

When I was a kid, I LOVED playing with paper dolls. I played with them until I was at an age when other girls were playing with makeup and hair stuff. And now thanks to Polyvore, I get to play paper dolls again!

I need to give a shout out to Twist Collective for introducing me to Polyvore. I love what Carly does with Twist Style Friday. She takes a Twist Collective pattern and styles it in different outfits using Polyvore.

So here is my first attempt. These are three jeans outfits I think would work with the Fallow cowl I knit last year. First a picture of the cowl:

And then the Polyvore set with three pants outfits. Since most of us have just one awesome handbag, leather jacket and killer pair of boots, I envisioned those accessories with the first look working with all three. But I threw two other fun handbags (because I have lots of small handbags for mixing things up and I really should get them out more often) and two other jackets. I'm so not a cat accessory person, but I have to admit that I kind of want that clutch in outfit number 3! Also, please note that I really didn't pay attention to prices on these items. I think the beige skinny jeans are ridiculously expensive. But I also think that items like these can be found at most price points.
